The World Is Their Oyster

2018. március 06. - 12:39 A “Mobility Breakfast” was offered on Tuesday to students curious about mobility opportunities in the Main Building of the University of Debrecen. Erasmus+ and Campus Mundi scholarships now can be used for the purposes of getting virtually anywhere in the world during the university program.

Members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of UD’s Student Self-Government treated students to hot coffee, a nice breakfast, and the mobility offers from more than 40 individual countries at the stand inside the Main Building on February 20th. They also shared their personal experience with their fellow students who are still in the planning stages for a potential trip abroad. The International Office of the university is connected to a network of several hundred institutions all over the world, so students who sign up in time might set off on their big trip to the world as soon as this coming fall.

“With the help of the Erasmus+ program, students from Debrecen can spend one or two semesters in any member state of the European Union or in Macedonia, Iceland, Liechtenstein, Norway, and Turkey for study or research purposes. We have access to a network of more than four hundred partner universities, the list of which as accessible at our homepage [3]. If you wish to travel to study abroad in the fall semester of the 2018/2019 academic year, you would need to make up your mind soon, since there is a March 20 deadline for submitting applications,” said Orsolya Jánosy, the Head of the International Office.

In the framework of Erasmus+ mobilities, students can also take care of their professional practice or international internship in these countries, where several companies complement their scholarship grants with a salary or other benefits. Another advantage of the Erasmus+ professional practice opportunities is that they can be completed even in the academic year after graduation..

“There are more and more opportunities opening up for the students of the University of Debrecen in countries outside of Europe as well. Using Campus Mundi, the mobility-incentive program offered by the Hungarian government, you can opt for the United States of America, China, Japan, New Zealand, Australia, or even Brazil both for professional practice as international internship and for study trips as well as for study abroad exchanges,” said Erasmus institutional coordinator Péter Gara.

At the Tuesday Mobility Breakfast, students were also informed about the fact that those wishing to go for Campus Mundi [4] opportunities may get a higher amount of grant topping as much as HUF 350 thousand per month, which can be complemented with further amounts of support towards travel expenses.

After the Mobility Breakfast held in the Main Building, the following three weeks will witness similar promotions on the other two, Böszörményi úti and Kassai úti, campuses of the university. In addition, informative presentations are also planned to be held at every faculty about Erasmus+ and Campus Mundi opportunities in order to make sure that more and more students could take the first step in the direction of life-shaping experience and language learning possibilities.
