Information for students on coronavirus

2020. January 30. - 17:12 Letter from the University of Debrecen to foreign students on coronavirus.

Dear Students,

With reference to the current situation regarding the coronavirus, we would like to call the attention of all students, whose country of origin is China, Vietnam, South Korea or Mongolia and those students who recently contacted Chinese family members or acquaintances worldwide, that in the second semester of the academic year 2019/2020 they will get an exemption from the absences in the first two weeks after their arrival. This is an automatic exemption in the first two weeks of the study period, which means they do not have to participate in classes but it will not be counted as an absence.

We would kindly ask for their own and their community’s sake to stay in home (self)isolation. Upon experiencing the following symptoms during this above mentioned period: high fever over 39 degrees, dizziness, headache, sore throat, cough and general weakness please contact us via e-mail or telephone. They should also contact the University immediately from home, our colleagues will provide the contact details soon.

In case the students arrive back to Hungary after the start of the semester, either because of vis major cases (official quarantine) or because of their own fault the first two weeks of absence will be justified, further validation of absences will be done by the relevant Faculties. Those students who arrive back to Debrecen before the start of the semester or later we kindly ask them to contact the Coordinating Center for International Education.

Furthermore we would like to contact and ask all of the affected students to fill out an obligatory questionnaire in the near future, based on which our experts will determine the subsequent events.
