Among the Best of Emerging Economies

2016. December 01. - 11:16 As many as seven institutions from Hungary, including the University of Debrecen, have made it to the most recent list of the top 300 institutions of 41 countries, published by Times Higher Education (THE).

The Times Higher Education BRICS & Emerging Economies Rankings 2017 list came out this past Wednesday night, and the University of Debrecen got ranked 201-250 in it. (The acronym BRICS is made up of the initial letters of the names of five significant emerging economies, including Brazil, Russia, India, China, and (Republic of) South Africa.)

The top universities ranking uses a similar methodology as the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, covering all core missions of a world-class university: the quality of teaching (the learning environment), research (volume, income and reputation), citations (research influence), international outlook (staff, students and research), and industry income (innovation), comprised in five groups of thirteen carefully calibrated individual performance indicators. At present, there are two universities from China topping the list but, altogether, six of the top ten institutions are from this Far Eastern country.

From Hungary, a total of seven institutions of higher education have been ranked by THE.
