The aim is to increase the role of industrial companies in education, András Hajdu, dean, emphasized at the opening of the 21st IT Professional Days on Monday. Two thousand students currently study at the Faculty of Informatics of the University of Debrecen.

The University of Debrecen (UD) has finished in second position among Hungarian institutions of higher education on the overseas Best Global Universities ranking list. UD has excelled at biology, and biochemistry as well as chemistry and medicine.

According to the list released on Monday, the UD has improved its ranking as the only Hungarian university in the field of technical sciences while in the field of natural sciences it has moved up 45 positions in the Round University Ranking (RUR) of institutions of higher education 2019.

Iron Man, Captain America and Spider-Man have all moved into the Ear, Nose and Throat Department of Kenézy Gyula University Hospital, UD. The wards have been decorated with pictures of superheroes by workers of a company, wishing to make sick children’s days spent at the hospital more bearable.

Casey Ott, head of the company plant at Veresegyháza gave a presentation on the rapid development of the aviation industry, the most advanced engines and career opportunities in GE Aviation.

According to Times Higher Education’s most recent ranking by subject, the UD places among the best Hungarian institutions of higher education. Along with the Budapest University of Technology and Economics, the UD places in the 601-800 category on the Engineering & Technology list.

The UD is ranked in the 37th place in the Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) most recent regional ranking of Emerging European and Central Asian universities, published last Tuesday. Similarly to previous occasions, the university’s highest ranking was achieved in the category of international students.

A joint Big Data research lab has been established by the University of Debrecen and the Guangxi University of Finance and Economics. The two institutions are also planning to launch dual degree programmes in IT, Economics and Mathematics.

Students of the University of Debrecen were able to learn about international scholarship programmes, internships, summer schools and job opportunities at the series of events called Erasmus Days between October 8 and 12.
